798 Zone is an all day or more visit.  Once you get there you won’t want to leave. I was there in 2007 and it was incredible.  798 Art Zone is an old factory spanning 10 square block now turned into art galleries, book stores, restaurants, hotels and more art galleries.  I was staying at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the financial district of Beijing.  I rented a car with a driver and it took about 30 minutes to get to 798 Art Zone from my hotel.  I was with the People to People tour of China.  I did my research ahead of time and knew about 798 Zone and some of the people on the tour wanted to go as well.

If you want to see the art world of China, this is a concentration of all of it.

This WAS the most incredible all glass museum and bar.  Everything about it was sure to catch your eye, even the bathrooms were incredible.  Museum by day, bar by night, the cabinets that hold glass sculptures during the day retracted and formed bars and tables at night.  This was the highlight of my trip in China.

This museum was created by Liuli a famous woman actress who loved her career.  She eventually became a famous glass artist and opened a glass museum to display her private collection.

This was a must see when traveling to Shanghai, China but unfortunately they have since closed and are looking for a new location.

I wish them the best!
