Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe

Open since 1927, Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe has been serving as a hot breakfast spot and neighborhood coffe shop.  It’s known for serving African-American jazz musicians during the era of segregated hotels.

It’s a small place but has seen many people.  Famous people like Sammy Davis, Jr. and Vice President Al Gore have been known to eat there.  I personally enjoy going there for the history of the place.  If you do decide to eat at Charlie’s, remember there are no bathrooms!

The location of this hotel is fabulous.  I love the neighborhood.  Although it is small, hosting only 12 guest rooms, I enjoy how cozy it feels.  My favorite part about staying here is eating at their restaurant.  They serve locally grown food and make fresh bread daily.  It is a little pricey but a perfect place to stay when visiting Boston any time of year. It is by far my favorite place for breakfast.  Fresh eggs, big strips of mouth watering bacon and sausage to die for- if you eat too much of it you just might!  Also, if you enjoy antique shopping, this is the location to be. There are plenty of stores within walking distance.

The Boston Museum of Modern Art was founded in 1936 as an institution where innovative art could be recognized. Over time, this museum began to be acknowledged for it’s discovery of important new artists and changed its name to the Institute of Contemporary Art.

This a staple in the exploration of Boston Art and Artists.
