Blue Hill has received many glorious reviews. I don’t know why. I invited my two friends Stephanie & Armand to dinner. We each started with a glass of wine. Stephanie had soup ($15), Armand had the cod head ($16)and I do mean ‘cod head’, which he pulled apart with his chopped sticks, and I had roasted fennel ($16). For our entrees Stephanie had the turkey ($36). The turkey looked like it was pressed turkey, beautifully arranged as if it were novel cuisine. I would have rather had turkey in a New Jersey diner with mashed potatoes and cranberries for $10. I had the tuna ($34). It was beautifully prepared and probably the best tuna I have ever had. Armand chose to have the vegetarian dish. When I was outside waiting for my friends to show up, I looked at the menu. There was only one dish I didn’t understand what it was. That dish was the cauliflower steak. A cauliflower steak turns out to be a slice of cauliflower about 1/2 inch thick, sauteed or grilled, for ($32 freakin dollars)! I said to the waitress that it probably costs only 50 cents to make it and she said, “Sir, you’re wrong.” To me, this entree was an insult to good value in a restaurant. We had two desserts. The total bill with tax came to $234.08 before tip. I tipped $48 dollars which brought it up to $282.08! Yes, President Obama has eaten there, but has he gone back? I don’t plan to go back.

Epices du Traiteur is located in the Upper West Side on New York City. They serve African/Moroccan and Mediterranean style food with generous portions at reasonable prices. I agree with all the positive reviews about Epices du Traiteur. I had the lamb chops served with couscous and grilled peppers.

Pongsri is known for their authentic Thai cuisine and their fresh seafood entrees. I make it a point to always go there when I visit New York City. The food, service, and atmosphere are all very good and reasonably priced. They even have happy hour specials during the week day. I’m always looking for a good quality restaurant that doesn’t break the bank- this is one of them. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai Shrimp.

If you want to see celebraties while visiting New York City Joe Allen is the place to go. The menu has a large variety of both traditional and contemporary cuisine. My favorite part about Joe Allen Restaurant is it’s great location right off of 8th Avenue. It’s wonderful for a pre-theater and after show meal. The busy atmosphere of Joe Allen brings in all sorts of crowds from young and casual to older and more sophisticated.

I have not eaten at The Four Seasons Restaurant in about 20 years, but if I could afford it I would eat there often. I have gone there 2 or 3 times in the last two years for drinks at the bar.
As I always like to say, ”If you can’t afford dinner at a place like this you can always afford a drink at the bar.”
This well designed restaurant has withstood the test of time and has not undergone renovations like many other restaurants. The Four Seasons Restaurant is one of the great tourist attractions in New york City.

When I stay in New York City , I usually stay at Hotel Edison. My mother use to take me there for banana splits or a hamburger and french fries and of course the incredible chocolate malt! The location has moved from one part of the hotel to another but the food is just as good. Cafe Edison has a great menu filled with New York’s favorites, it’s just great NYC diner food. I personally like the atmosphere and the location but most of all I like keeping my eye open for local actors such as Jackie Mason or Matthew Broderick.

Some of the best Japanese confectioneries I have ever tasted. It’s a bit pricey but I would suggest trying this if you are anywhere near the area. The location is great because it is at Rockefeller Center and it’s easily the best Mochi dessert in the city.
