Retailer The Phoenix in Washington, DC was related
to the Pan American Phoenix in NYC. Two friends originally started both shops and now
they are run separately. The Phoenix in Washington has been here for as long as I’ve
been here, over 40 years.
They have a wonderful variety of jewelry,
folk art & antiques. It’s the oldest shop in Georgetown so that means they must be doing something right!

Over the last 40 years, I have found many bargains at Christ Child Opportunity Shop. It has changed over the last few years for the better. They have hired someone to take charge in a more professional way, which means more profit for their charity. The down side is they have brought in their own merchandise to put in between the consignment items. These items you may find in a cheaper gift shop, but you can still find great bargains there. I would recommend going often because items come in and leave in a hurry.
