Portmeirion Village
When visiting Gwynedd, North Wales I would recommend touring the Italian Style village of Portmeirion. With Mediterranean influence, this village has some incredible architecture and sculpture gardens. The main building of Portmeirion is popular hotel followed by the cottages called “White Horses”, “Mermaid” and “The Salutation”. This tightly grouped coastal village was constructed between the time of 1925 and 1975.
I find the design of the village intriguing and believe the gardens deserve marrit. Because I love architecture and fantasy architecture, I am happy I had the chance to see it up close. I’ve known about it for many years. If you remember the T.V. show, “The Prisoner” with actor Patrick McGoohan this is the location where it took place. There was a big bouncing white ball chasing the actor all the time (I never liked the program or understood it! Maybe I’m older now and will give it another chance!).
It’s well worth the trip. I would love to spend days there. Don’t pass by Portmeirion when visiting Wales!

I absolutely love the Bodnant Gardens in the North of Wales! It is fascinating to see plants growing from all over the world, including China, North America, Europe and Japan. This would be a lovely place to have a private event such as a wedding or a big party. You could get lost in the gardens- literally- because they cover about 80 acres. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves gardens and especially landscape design.
Bodysgallen Hall & Spa
Hotel, Restaurant & Spa

Owned and Restored by Historic House Hotels
The Bodysgallen Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. They have great views of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle. At the Bodysgallen hotel you can dine at their two fabulous restaurants and walk through their enchanting gardens.
I took all of these pictures and as you can see it’s hard to take a bad one. In the last photograph you can see Conway Castel in the background. I stayed in a room on the top floor in the corner on the right which had a beautiful view of both the garden and Conway Castel. If you stay in the front of the Hotel, you may get a room with a very large fire place. The food was exquisite and some of my lady friends recommend the spa. It’s one of those places where you’ll want to spend some time at and relax.
